Product Details:
Rotted wood from hardwood trees found in the forests of North Carolina. This decayed wood crumbles at your fingertips, providing a fully edible mixture for Isopods, springtails, millipedes and beetles. A necessary food source for detritivores, and perfect addition to any substrate.
Its soft, easy to burrow in and powdery pure rot wood. Could be used as a pure substrate by itself for most detritivores. May contain small-medium sized rot wood chunks, will mostly be crumble.
Sterilization:
All wood is kept frozen in one of our freezers before purchase. This is to prevent pests and unwanted hitchhikers from contaminating the product. Freezing allows the substrate to retain all beneficial bacteria and microbial life without removing any nutrition, unlike heat treating methods.
